Zeds Dead go deep for the start of the ‘Altered States’ label with the new ‘Catching Z’s’ mixtape [LISTEN]
Zeds dead have revived their widely revered ones Fang Z.‘s series for the start of their brand new label, Changed conditions.
The mixtape goes deep and shows the melodic side of Dylan “DC” Mamid and Zachary “Hooks” Rapp-Rovan, aka Zeds Dead. ZD’s flexibility with Catching Zs is just as impressive as the heavy bass effort they are arguably best known for.
Each production extends over 13 tracks in 37 minutes and draws a whole universe around the dynamic soundscapes of Catching Z’s. From the ambient opening of “When I Die, I’ll Come Back” to the unexpected wubs of “Phuket Sunrise” to the gritty tones of “Late Night Drive”, there is something for every ZD fan. Overall, the mixtape meets bizarre, slightly wobbly and absolutely immersive ways.
Zed’s Dead share in the release:
Your response to the Catching Zs mixes has been so impressive over the years that we wanted to present you with an original collection of our own dreamy creations. Downtempo, trip hop or whatever you want to call it has always been a huge inspiration to us and in many ways a big reason why we made beats in the first place. With Altered States, we want to bring you more of that type of vibe and this is the start.
This is just a taste of what’s to come from the changed states! Listen.
