Protohype has another new release to offer today through Underdog Records. He’s started nurturing serious talent and this week is moving from Elderbass to Canadian producer and DJ Matt Doe. Doe has made a three-part EP called WHATCHU LOOKIN ‘AT, following previous releases for labels like Dim Mak and Subsidia.
In addition to two solo cuts, it is a collaboration with Protohype, which we present below. ‘Hold Me Close’ is an absolute slammer of a hearing that gradually kicks in before hitting hard with meandering notes and chubby low-end slaps.
Matt Doe said on the EP: “It all started with the simple idea of touching areas and subgenres that I wasn’t really familiar with. from the heavy dubstep to the weird trap and the old school dubstep. I also thought that as strange as these times were for us all, I didn’t want to let them interfere with my creativity and “get stuck” in the process. I went on with the attitude “I’ll see where this leads”.
