Many different things were tried in the spring of 2020 as the entire film industry tried to cope with the growing global pandemic. Some films, like Mulan and Tenet, have only been delayed for a few months in hopes that the theaters can open quickly and they could be the first to come out of the gate. Other films were postponed from summer to fall and winter. Even more, like F9 and Jungle Cruise, were delayed by a full year at the beginning. At the time, that reaction seemed a bit extreme, but now it seems that this was probably the right call. But was even a year enough? Will F9 actually open in theaters in May? Vin Diesel says yes.
