Was that gossip girl’s original opening credits sequence? Restart Creator weighs in

Ahead of HBO Max’s imminent restart on Gossip Girl, fans are freaking out over a video that allegedly opened up for the original show.

A new video that’s going viral on social media features the stars of the iconic CW series who didn’t have an official opening credits and pose for the camera Fergie2006 Bop “Glamorous”. Intercut with the cast are scenes from the series, including the moment from the pilot where the Upper East Side crew slams champagne in a limo on their way to Kiss on the Lips.

The credits are notably, um, cheesier than typical Gossip Girl style. Chace Crawfordwho plays the golden boy Nate Archibald, grins at the camera. Leighton Meester, who appears as Queen Bee Blair Waldorf, looks like someone surprised her.

The fans freaked out over the video on Twitter.

“So much to unpack,” tweeted one. “smiling blair mean girl serena mad at dan teen pageant jenny walmart bieber nate and chuck looks like one of the cullens nah i love it here.”

“This is the worst and the best thing I’ve seen in my life,” added another.

Wrote a third, “Why this 2000s music video? I’m glad they didn’t use it.”

If these were the credits for the show, it’s easy to see why The CW kicked it out before the premiere – however, it seems this is just the job of a well-done fan edit.
