The Mandalorian: 12 burning questions from the season two finale – together with ‘Is [Spoiler] Gone eternally? ‘

The following contains spoilers from the season two finale of Disney + ‘s The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian season two finale left our nerdy, Star Wars-loving jaws on the floor, but it also left us with questions. First of allis of course:

1 | What exactly is the “Book of Boba Fett” story that was teased on the post-credits scene?

Some have assumed (and others have reported without confirmation) that it was a standalone spin-off that Disney did not announce during its Investor Day presentation on Dec. 10, along with anything else in the galaxy. And yet it is the premiere month “December 2021” coincides with the arrival of The Mandalorian Season 3 in December 2021. Would Disney + launch two Star Wars series in the same month? Or does Boba Fett take on the central role of the Mandalorian (although he is not a Mandalorian per se) after Din Djarin’s search for the child is over?

Disney + is 100 percent mother of The Book of Boba Fett, which is … curious … considering the mood the streamer was in on investor day.

As we wait for Fett’s future, here are a few other questions – some serious, some less – that came to mind as the season two finale progressed:

2 | Have Mandalorian viewers seen the last of Grogu that Master Luke Skywalker took to practice in the final sequence of the actual finale? And if Boba Fett is the focus of the third season, did we see the last of Pedro Pascal as Din?

3 | Does this mean we’ll never find out how exactly Grogu was abandoned in that building on Arvala-7? Sure, Ahsoka Tano passed on some of what he had been through, but … it seems to be taking a long time to get stranded there in his stroller.

4th | Not painting Imperial officers with a broad brush, but … wouldn’t the communications officer find it odd that the Lambda Shuttle pilot suddenly became female?

5 | Where did Mando’s Beskar spear come from during this fight scene? (Here’s a screenshot from the right, before he produced it to behead the Dark Trooper.) Is it like a super retractable? Fits in a shirt pocket? UPDATE: Answered (by Toby, Karen, Chet and others)! The spear was on the ground behind him as he fired the whistling birds as a distraction.

6th | How did the Dark Troopers know when they got back on board the cruiser to make their way to the bridge? Or is your default setting “Protect Moff Gideon” and he’s got a GPS tracker in his person?

7th | Did Star Wars vet Mark Hamill, whose voice is a little sad these days, repeat the dialogue from CGI Luke? Was it compiled from previous movie clips? Or was it a soundalike? (“WITH MARK HAMILL” was featured in the credits among the cast, but that could be a likeness-rights thing.)

8th | Has Mando Bo-Katan’s hopes of using the Darksaber to regain Mandalore unwittingly dashed? Or are they slated for an off-screen skirmish so she can get it back through the End of Rocky III battle? [“Ding, ding.”]

9 | Speaking of Rocky films, who would have thought that Carl Weathers would be so close in season 2, starring as Greef Carga (and directing another) in just one episode?

10 | Given all that has been learned in the last couple of episodes, what did Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon, mean when he said, “In Season 3 and Season 4 … you will really start getting answers”?

11 | How does Bib Fortuna live? How did he not die with Jabba and his other servants in Return of the Jedi?

12 | Will “The Book of Boba Fett” – whatever it is – take on him and Fennec Shand and lay claim to the late Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine? Or is the “book” the story of how Boba survived the Sarlacc pit, told through flashbacks, and how he got where we saw him for the first time this season? Or will it be a mix of both?

What questions do you have about the The Mandalorian season two finale and beyond?
