The Bite: COVID creates zombies (?!) In the trailer for Robert and Michelle King’s Upcoming Spectrum Satire – Watch
Great news for fans of CBS’s short-lived BrainDead: Robert and Michelle King bring a similar science fiction absurdity to The Sci Bite, their satirical COVID drama premiere Friday, May 21st on Spectrum.
Like many series over the past year, The Bite focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic – but this is a fictional strain of the virus that appears to turn infected people into something very zombie-like. (“Zombies are fictional,” says Steven Pasquale’s CDC document in the trailer below, but we’re not sure how else would he explain the purple-faced beating victims of the purple-faced virus.)
Six episode bite stars Audra McDonald (The Good Fight) and Taylor Schilling (Orange is the new black) as Rachel and Lily, two neighbors embarking on unprecedented times as this deadly new strain of the virus arrives.
Rachel navigates the new normal in New York City, juggling her many telemedicine clients and a shaky marriage to her husband Dr. Zach (Pasquale) who has a prestigious job with the CDC in Washington, DC. Meanwhile, Lily is upstairs trying to convince her Wall Street clientele that their specific skills are still as valuable on a video screen as they are in person.
The cast also includes Will Swenson (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Phillipa Soo (Broadway’s Hamilton) and Leslie Uggams (Empire), while the Kings (The Good Woman, Evil) co-creators, writers and executive producers.
All episodes of The Bite are released immediately and are available exclusively (and free) on request to Spectrum Video subscribers. Check out the full trailer below and leave a comment with your first impressions.
