There is a petition to be recognized Drum & Bass Day as an official holiday in the UK and around the world.
The petition calls on DnB’s loyal and dedicated supporters of fans, DJs, MCs and producers to unite and recognize the date of Drum & Bass Day as 17/4 (April 17th). With the vast majority of DnB productions set to 174 BPM, there is no better day to celebrate the genre.
The aim is to get 10,000 supporters on board to convince the UK Government’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Ministers of Arts and Culture in DnB-loving cities around the world to use the drum and bass Day officially recognized. The petition is currently hitting the 2,500 mark.
The change.org petition from The Blast UK sets the scene:
Drum & Bass emerged from the legendary British jungle scene in the 1990s and has been undoubtedly one of the country’s top exports for the past 30 years. During this time, the boundaries of sound production have been pushed and explored by producers, DJs and promoters not just in the UK but all over the world – making Drum & Bass a truly global community.
At the time of this writing, signatures are rising as DnB lovers everywhere hope to commemorate the genre with a decent vacation. Notable labels including UKF and venues including Motion night club have already shown support. Honor the influential genre by signing here.
