The title hints at the cosmic and mystical aspects of the sequel, but doesn’t reveal anything either, as most working titles are set up to keep people away from film sets. Doctor Strange from 2016 was given the working title Checkmate, while Spider-Man 3 is once again following the Seinfeld reference route with Serenity Now. It is unclear when Benedict Cumberbatch will leave Atlanta and travel to the UK to begin work on Doctor Strange 2.
For fans who want more information on Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness, the upcoming WandaVision Disney + series will have the key. Disney and Marvel Studios have just announced that the show will premiere on January 15, 2021, and according to Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, MCU fans will want to see it all. In a recent interview, Feige confirmed that WandaVision will set up Doctor Strange’s events in the Multiverse of Madness right away, though he didn’t go into details, which led hardcore MCU fans to speculate about what will happen on the big screen .
It is believed that in the Madness Multiverse, Doctor Strange will be much darker than the first episode. When the sequel was first announced, Benedict Cumberbatch teased that it “has a twist of horror that will really grab people” even though Scott Derrickson was still on board to direct at the time. He has since left the project due to creative differences with Marvel Studios, with Sam Raimi coming on board to take over.
