Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk breaks his ass in the first action-packed trailer for the upcoming thriller Nobody. Playing with his humble presence, Odenkirk becomes an unstoppable force of fist-throwing nature as he faces nameless henchmen left and right and creates a superhuman mix of John Wick and Bryan Mills from Taken. Because sometimes the man you don’t notice is the most dangerous of them all …
Emmy Prize Winner Bob Odenkirk Stars like Hutch Mansell, an underrated and overlooked father and husband who takes the indignation of life by the chin and never pushes it back. A nobody. When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch refuses to defend himself or his family in hopes of preventing serious violence. His teenage son Blake (Gage Munroe, The Shack) is disappointed in him and his wife Becca (Connie Nielsen, Wonder Woman) just seems to be withdrawing even further.
The aftermath of the incident matches Hutch’s long smoldering rage, triggering dormant instincts, and driving him on a brutal path that unearths dark secrets and deadly abilities. In a flurry of fists, gunshots, and screeching tires, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous adversary (famous Russian actor Aleksey Serebryakov, Amazon McMafia) and make sure he is never again underestimated as Nobody.
Nobody is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry) from a script by Derek Kolstad, the narrative architect of the John Wick franchise, and plays legendary Emmy winner Christopher Lloyd as Hutch’s father and multi-hyphenated musician actor RZA as Hutch’s brother, whose hidden talents aid Hutch in his quest for revenge.
With Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, the filmmakers of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde as producers for their company 87North and Braden Aftergood (Hell or High Water, Wind River) for his eighty-two films and by Bob Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero (Hulus PEN15) for Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment. The film is produced by Derek Kolstad, Marc S. Fischer, Annie Marter and Tobey Maguire.
Apart from Odenkirk, nobody plays Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, RZA, Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath, Colin Salmon and Humberly González. While you might find the sight of an injured and bloody Odenkirk fighting thugs with serenity, this is exactly what the Breaking Bad star was aiming for. “I really wanted to go way out, like 180 degrees out of my comfort zone. Just stand up for this guy, make a commitment to his anger, and make a commitment to his commitment to what he does,” he explained.
The idea behind Nobody was invented by Odenkirk after his experience of multiple break-ins in real life. “I think I handled it well, but you can’t help but wish you had done more,” he shared. “I thought I was just working with that dark energy to see if there was a story there.”
The actor described the film as “closer to a ’70s action movie – the lonely man walking the streets” and looks like exactly the kind of no-nonsense action film escapism audiences are looking for right now. It is not scheduled to hit theaters on February 26, 2021. This is provided to us with the kind permission of Universal Pictures.
