DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has an appointment with Dr. Strangelove agreed to cast the Body of Proof alum Nic Bishop as a tribute to the 1964 dark film comedy.
TVLine has learned exclusively that the English actor starred in a season six riff from Dr. Strangelove will guest star on the CW series, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Stanley Kubrick’s acclaimed satirization of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States.
In the episode – which appears to be the fourth of the upcoming season, titled “Bay of Squids” – Nate (played by Nick Zano) and Zari (Tala Ashe) must infiltrate the Kennedy White House to prevent Bishop’s belligerent General Kilgore from Controlling JFK World War III, when an alien wreaked havoc in Fidel Castro’s Cuba in 1962.
Bishop’s character is paired with Dr. Strangelove compared General Buck Turgidson, who was played by George C. Scott in the Kubrick film.
In addition to his already mentioned two-season run as Peter Dunlop from Body of Proof, Bishop’s numerous TV credits include Apple TV’s Truth Be Told as well as Snowfall, Covert Affairs, Dominion and Home and Away. (I see that he is apparently also with legendary star Jes Macallan and is therefore in her safe COVID “bubble”.)
Legends of Tomorrow is one of the CW series that are still waiting for a return flight date and are scheduled for spring 2021 or later.
