Chris Pratt’s The Tomorrow War will be streamed direct on Amazon this summer

Amazon Studios has acquired worldwide rights to Skydance Media The morning war. The film was originally intended to be distributed in Paramount Pictures theaters. Instead, it represents another potential blockbuster that has shifted to streaming. The film is directed by Chris McKay (The LEGO Batman Movie) and stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy).

The Tomorrow War is called a “global science fiction actioner” and will be released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on July 2, 2021. This is just the last major acquisition by Amazon in the past year. With theaters still trying to get back on their feet, the company has spent millions on big titles. Some examples include Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, Coming 2 America, and Without Remorse, in which Michael B. Jordan stars and which comes out later this month. This particular deal is reportedly in the $ 200 million range. Jennifer Salke, director of Amazon Studios, had this to say in a statement.

The Morning War stunned the world when a group of time travelers from 2051 arrived to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, humanity is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. If humanity is to survive, soldiers and civilians must be transported from the present to the future and join the fight. Among the recruits is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, he works with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (JK Simmons) to rewrite the fate of the planet. Director Chris McKay had this to say.

The cast also includes Betty Gilpin (The Hunt), Sam Richardson (Veep) and Edwin Hodge (The Purge). Zach Dean (24 hours to live) wrote the script. David Ellison, CEO of Skydance, had this to say.
