Following the revelation that Marvel’s upcoming Captain Marvel sequel will officially be titled The Marvels, Wandavision star and The Marvels member Teyonah Parris has reached out on social media to explain her excitement and declare that she is ready to go. In addition to sharing Marvel’s Phase 4 video entitled “Let’s Go!” Parris also shared the film’s official logo, entitled “See you in theaters!”
Courtesy of a Marvel Studios sizzling role describing Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Marvels Parris will find herself in the film as Monica Rambeau. Monica Rambeau, the daughter of Maria Rambeau of Lashana Lynch, who was introduced in the first Captain Marvel as Carol Danvers’ best friend and fellow pilot in the US Air Force, later becomes a SWORD captain and has the task of dealing with the situation at the center of deal with WandaVision from Disney +.
Despite starting the series as a normal old person, despite being incredibly capable, Monica gains her own superpowers after battling her way through the reality-changing barrier created by Wanda Maximoff that surrounds the city of Westview. As a result, Monica’s cells are being rewritten so that they can absorb Wanda’s energy beams and control various forms of energy.
Explaining her excitement about joining the world of Marvel recently, Parris said, “To be able to say these days, ‘I get to portray a black superhero and be this vision, this picture I wish I prayed for when I was young Girl seen: “It’s really an incredible honor and a blessing. And I’m just really looking forward to the opportunity and having a lot of fun. You are a lot of fun here [at Marvel]. “
Teyonah Parris has also vexed further exploration of the apparent beef between Danvers and Monica, a disagreement that was vexed in WandaVision. “Well, as you know, I have been announced that I will be joining the cast of Captain Marvel 2 with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and the Kamala Khan character. I think we’ll get into that relationship more and what’s wrong with these two … “she revealed.
“Not only [Monica’s mother] pass, but Monica wasn’t there to help her mother with the transition. And that’s a very difficult pill to swallow. The guilt and shame and any other grief she tries to resolve while getting back to work on a project she doesn’t usually even do – there are parallels between Monica’s grief and trauma and tragedy and what Wanda goes through. Monica connects with Wanda on this level. “
While not much is known about the ongoing adventures of Brie Larson’s cosmic superhero, the newly revealed title offers further clues. It was also previously announced that the story will be linked in some way to both WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. WandaVision director Matt Shakman stated that the storylines featured on the Disney + series carry over into the broader MCU saying, “WandaVision” was the focus while we were making it, and the choices we made were then passed on to other films passed on. The way we decided to describe Monica’s power, all that stuff, it will continue in Captain Marvel 2. “
Iman Vellani will appear as Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel alongside Parria and Larson. Fresh Meat star Zawe Ashton recently took on a currently undisclosed role as the villain. Candyman’s reboot director Nia DaCosta will lead the project, which is scheduled to begin production May 31. The Marvels is slated to hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
