Anthony Hopkins celebrates 45 years of zero alcohol consumption

Anthony Hopkins recently celebrated a personal milestone like Brad Pitt. Page 6 says the actor went on his bill this week to talk about his accomplishments in abstaining from drugs and alcohol for the past 45 years. The 82-year-old Oscar winner wowed fans when he went to his IG to talk about his journey of sobriety.

According to Hopkins, 2020 was a tough year for many people around the world because it was “filled with grief and sadness”. It reminded him of the time he received a “wake up call” over 45 years ago, the actor noted.

Hopkins claims he is heading for disaster if he does not straighten up. Hopkins admitted that he “drank to death” as a much younger man, and he had to get past it or he might have died.

As he came to this, Anthony says that one day he thought, “Do you want to live or die?” After thinking about it for a second, Hopkins told himself he wanted life, not death. The actor went on to realize that at that moment he realized that he had to stop drinking. There was a sense of “relief” that came over him after he came to the realization.

Hopkins urged his fans and supporters to continue the good fight for the new year. As mentioned above, Hopkins, like other players in the industry, is grappling with alcoholism, including the aforementioned Brad Pitt, who reportedly battled alcohol during his breakup with Angelina Jolie.

Indeed, sources have claimed Brad’s drinking problem was at the heart of their split. Since then, it has been reported by several outlets that Brad has abandoned drinking; he no longer drinks at all. This wouldn’t be the first time Brad and Anthony have been connected.

About a year ago, Brad and Anthony did an interview bringing up the movie they worked on, Meet Joe Black. The 55-year-old and 81-year-old actors explained how they both used alcohol to avoid dealing with their emotions.
