Amy Adams talks in regards to the new movie Hillbilly Elegy and which of her favourite movies she quotes

Amy Adams There may be a new, Oscar-lively movie out there, but that doesn’t mean she forgot about her first one. The six-time Oscar nominee sat down with E! News to discuss Hillbilly Elegy, her upcoming film Glenn Close from the director Ron Howard, but couldn’t help but rave about the cult classic Drop Dead Gorgeous.

The 1999 mockumentary is about the Mount Rose beauty pageant and the bizarre tragedies that followed. The movie stars play alongside the then Hollywood newcomer Amy Kirsten Dunst, Kirstie Alley, Brittany Murphy, Allison Janney, and Denise Richards.

When asked about the iconic status of Drop Dead Gorgeous among fans, Amy said that while she was surprised by the film’s continued popularity for more than 20 years since its release, she knows the film is special.

“I keep quoting the movie so it doesn’t surprise me,” Amy explained, adding that when she’s dressed, she quotes the movie’s iconic line: “Lights, camera, action, and me with no makeup.”

Amy added that she also added the line “She’s thin, not deaf!” Loves. It was voiced by Denise’s character Becky Ann Leeman.

“It was before its time,” she shared the controversial comedy, “but I love it and I’m so proud that this was my first film.”
