What are concrete slabs?

A concrete slab is a large part of the construction elements of buildings. A concrete slab is a thin, flat, horizontal concrete surface that's used for a floor or roof. Concrete slabs are utilized in some residential structures for support of the foundation or directly on the ground.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installation isn't for the faint of heart. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors use strict procedures for concrete slab installation that follows the industry's standards and codes.

Our top priority is safety when we work on concrete projects. Before we begin any project, we make sure we equip ourselves with safety gear. Eye protection, long sleeves or long pants rubber boots, gloves or rubber shoes are essential. These all help to safeguard us from concrete splashes that could harm our overall health, and well-being.

We strictly follow the steps listed below as an integral part of our process:

Step 1 - Preparation on the spot

We follow the exact procedure regardless of the size concrete slab project we're working on. Each project we take on begins with the preparation of the area. We clean up and get rid of waste so we can start on a clean slate. As part of the preparation process the materials should be at the site. We schedule delivery of items prior to actual work. This lets us finish the work on time.

Step 2 Re-inforce concrete slabs using steel, and then construct concrete forms

After the site is cleaned and ready, we move on with the construction of concrete forms using wire mesh. Concrete forms function as a solid wall to help hold the concrete mix in its place. It also forces wet concrete to assume a particular shape or design. In the case of larger structures, we employ Rebar to strengthen concrete. This allows for more durable concrete surfaces.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

We use a concrete truck to facilitate the process. It is also useful to ensure concrete materials are properly mixed. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. In the majority of projects, a concrete mixer will be required.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After mixing the concrete and forming the slab, the concrete is poured into the forms. To ensure that there are no air pockets, we carefully apply the concrete mix. Air pockets result from excessive mortar being put over the aggregate. When pouring concrete, it is essential that we distribute the mix evenly across the form, not missing any one area.
